SPANISH PATRIOTS [2], THE. English, Country Dance Tune (2/4 time). C Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABBAA. No relation to “Spanish Patriots (1).” Cahusac’s title probably refers to the Spanish irregulars who maintained a guerrilla war against the French forces of Napoleon Bonaparte on the Iberian Peninsula. There is a tune dedicated to Sir Arthur Wellesley, commander of the British forces in the Peninsular Campaign in the same volume.
