The tune was in the repertoire of Pocahontas County, West Virginia, fiddler Burl Hammons (1908-1993). An unrelated tune with a similar title is Texas fiddler "Duck" Wootan's (1882-1964) "Creek's All Muddy and the Pond's All Dry (The)."
