SRUTHÁN A' CHAIT (Stream of the Cat). AKA – “Struthán na gCat.” AKA and see “Humors of Tullycrine (The).” Irish, Hornpipe (whole time). A Dorian. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. Junior Crehan credits the hornpipe to the blind 19th century piper Garret Barry, who used to sit and play on a bridge over a small stream in Cloonlaheen, Mullagh, County Clare. This was the area that Gatach, an evil magician, was slain in battle with Diarmaid. Gatach had the ability to shape-shift, including into a cat, and this proved to be his undoing.
