STAGE HORNPIPE [3], A. AKA and see "Harlequin Gambols," "Kay's Hornpipe," "Merry Man Hornpipe (The)," “Pet of the House (The).” Irish, Hornpipe. A Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. "Stage Hornpipe [3]" was printed by Francis O’Neill in his 1922 volume Waifs and Strays of Gaelic Melody, although he had printed it in an earlier volume as “Pet of the House (The),” set in the key of ‘G’. Source for notated version : - the Rice-Walsh manuscript, a collection of music from the repertoire of Jeremiah Breen, a blind fiddler from North Kerry, notated by his student Thomas Rice and later copied by his friend, Sergeant James P. Walsh of the Chicago police force. The ms. was later obtained by Chicago fiddler Patrick Stack and donated to Chief O'Neill [O’Neill].
