STEP LIVELY. American, Reel (cut time). USA, Kentucky. The tune was composed by Les Smitha, originally from Trimble County, Kentucky, a trained musician and a fiddler. Recorded in Richmond, Indiana, in 1931 by the Jimmie Johnson String Band (of Anderson County, Ky., for whom Smitha fiddled), with calls for a square dance.
