STOLEN REEL, THE. AKA and see “Swallow's Nest (3).” Irish, Reel. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. Bill Black (1996) says New Jersey flute player Mike Rafferty “borrowed” this tune from Bronx fiddler Martin Mulvihill, who jokingly accused him of theft. The group Sliabh Notes recorded the tune under the title “The Swallow’s Nest” on their album “Gleanntan,” and noted that the tune was composed by Nenagh, County Tipperary, accordion player Paddy O’Brien (1922-1991).
