SUNRISE, THE (An troigean). Irish, Hornpipe (2/4 time). G Major ('A' part) & E Minor ('B' part). Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. Paul de Grae, in his notes to the O'Neill collections, observes that this tune was not included in O'Neill's more selective Dance Music of Ireland (1907), and points to the "vaudeville flavor to this melody." O'Neill received some criticism for including non-Irish melodies his his 1903 compendium, and de Grae suggests this may be the reason for its exclusion from O'Neill's 1907 volume[1].
