Source for notated version : - Irish collector Edward Bunting (in whose 1840 collection the tune appears) noted the melody from "McDermott at Castlebar in 1802," whom O'Sullivan (1983) believes is Edward MacDermott Roe, one of the Irish harpers at the second Granard festival in March, 1782.
