TEA REEL, THE. Irish, Reel. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. "Tea Reel" is a version of “Boyne Hunt (1).” The tune was played by uilleann piper and pipemaker, teacher, and performer Richard L. O'Mealy (1873-1947), originally from a musical family of Westmeath, who worked in Belfast most of his adult life and who died in the city. Francis O'Neill includes a sketch of his life and a photograph in his Irish Minstrels and Musicians (1913, pp. 164-166). O'Mealy's setting was obtained from one Piper Kelly in 1904.
