TEDDY BEAR. American, "Walk Around" (2/4 time). A Minor. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. A wikipedia:walkaround was a staple of the minstrel show, the finale of the first act when each member of the troupe in turn got to showcase his dancing skills. However, what makes this tune unique is the title, "wikipedia:Teddy_bear", referring to the stuffed toy in the form of a bear that was marketed and immediately popular following the Nov., 1902, incident of President Theodore Roosevelt's refusal to shoot a bear on a hunting trip.

Similarly inspired, the two-step "Teddy Bear's Picnic" was composed (as an instrumental, not a song) in 1907.
