TELL HER LIES AND FEED HER CANDY [2]. American, Reel (cut time). C Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. "Tell Her Lies and Feed Her Candy [2]", unrelated to the first tune by that name in this index (except for title), is from the playing of fiddler James Hood of Allen County, south-central Kentucky, on the border with Tennessee. Mr. Hood was recorded in the field in 1974 by collector, musician and folklorist Bruce Greene. Hood lamented about the dearth of fiddlers playing traditional old-time fiddle music in his area.

A lot of them has quit. I know a lot of fiddlers I thought was better than anything you hear now. But they said that so many of ’em got to playing different kinds of music, playing different styles, that they just quit. I’ve had lots of ’em to tell me that.
