TEW HORNPIPE. English, "Old" or Triple Hornpipe (3/2 time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). ABCDEFGHIJ. "Tew Hornpipe" was printed in Thomas Marsden's Original Lancashire Hornpipes, Old and New, published in London by Henry Playford in 1705. There is an ancient village called Great Tew five miles east of Chipping Norton in Oxfordshire in the heart of England's Cotswold region, but whether there is a connection with Marsden's title is unknown.
