THATCH’D HOUSE [2], THE. AKA and see "Wat'ry Vapours, Weep No More." English, Country Dance Tune (cut time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. This melody (unrelated to “Thatch'd House (1) (The)”) was first published in R. Baldwin’s periodical The London Magazine, or The Gentleman’s Monthly Intelligencer of August, 1753 (p. 383). The alternate title, the first line of a song, and its appearance in the 1775 songster Vocal Music indicate the country dance setting was taken from a vocal air.
