THERE WAS A BOLD BEGGARMAN. Irish, Air (4/4 time). D Major/Mixolydian. Standard tuning (fiddle). One part. Joyce (1890) knew this tune and words “longer than my memory can reach back.”

There was a bold beggarman as ever you did see,
With a hi, with a ho fol-de dandy-o;
He asked for a lodging near the house of Tandragee,
With his toorn-oorn-orn-an-dy-o.
