THREE MEET [1]. English, Country Dance Tune and Jig (6/8 time). England; Northwest and Northeast. D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AA'BB'. The tune takes its title from the prominent country dance figure set to it. "Three Meet (1)" is the tune and dance collected by Peter Kennedy from northern England, and stipulates that "three face three, the gentleman with two partners", with the last figure given as " 'Threes cuddle up'. Arms linked behind backs to form basket. Swing with pivot step."

Directions for a Gloucestershire country dance called "The Swedish" or "Three Meet" were printed in English Folk Dance Society News, vol. IV, Part 1 (Jan., 1934), reprinted in Journal of the English Folk Dance and Song Society, vol. III, No. 2 (December, 1937), however, the tune stipulated is Cecil Sharp's Three Meet (3)." According to the 1934 printing, "This dance is still performed at the village of Upper Slaughter, Glos., in the Old Manor Barn on the occasion of the Harvest Home. Miss Witts of the Manor House states that the dance is locally known as 'The Swedish Dance.' The description of the dance is given by Miss Clare Newhouse."
