THUNDERBOLT HORNPIPE. American, Reel (2/4 or cut time). USA; Arkansas, Nebraska. B Flat Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The title appears in a list of traditional Ozarks Mountains fiddle tunes compiled by musicologist/folklorist Vance Randolph, published in 1954. “Thunderbolt Hornpipe” is one of the ‘100 essential Missouri fiddle tunes’ according to Missouri fiddler Charlie Walden.
