TICONDEROGA [2]. American, Jig (6/8 time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABBAA. Ticonderoga is a Mohawk Indian word meaning “between the two great waters,” a reference to its location between lakes Champlain and George in New York state. Ford has a companion piece of sorts in his collection, called “Crown Point (1),” the name of a Colonial fort near Ticonderoga that anchored the other approach to Lake George/Lake Champlain.
