TIE THE RIBBONS [1] ("Neasg na criosaide" or "Ceanga(i)l na ribíní"). AKA and see "Trim the Bonnet," “Big Pat’s Hat,” "Big Pat's Dandy Reel," "Clady Reel (The)," "Dandy Reel (2) (The)," “Drogheda Bay” (Matt Molloy), "Dublin Lasses (2)," "Eight and Forty Sisters," “The Green Ribbons Reel,” “The Groom in His Shirt,” "Hills of Clady (The)," "Jimmy the Creelmaker," "Maids of Galway (2) (The)," "Murtough Molloy," "O'Connell's Trip to Parliament (2),” "The Pigeon House," "Reel (84)," "Salamanca (3),” "Tomeen O'Dea's Reel," “Trim the Bonnet." Irish, Reel. E Minor. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB (O'Neill/1850, 1001 & 1915): AA'BB' (O'Neill/Krassen). O’Neill’s “Trim the Bonnet,” from Waifs and Strays of Gaelic Melody (1922, 80), is a version of this tune, says Breathnach (1976). Compare also with "Walls of Limerick (2) (The)" which is very similar in the first strain, and less so in the second, although it follows the same general melodic contour and harmonic underpinning. The tune are essentially identical in character without 'being' the same.
