TINA’S SCHOTTISCHE. Canadian, Schottische. Canada; New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island. D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. Canadian radio and TV fiddler Don Messer published "Tina's Schottische" in a tune book issued in 1949, but there is no record of his ever having recorded the melody. The tune was introduced to Prince Edward Island by New Brunswick fiddler Ivan Hicks, according to Perlman (1996). According to British Columbia fiddler Myllie Barron, the tune he recorded as "Tina's Schottische" was composed by Alfred Bernowich, a Serbian-born musician whom Myllie knew in Flin Flon, and named after Alfred's daughter.
