TITUS BANJO JIG. American, 'Sand Jig' (2/4 time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). One part. The tune is likely associated with blackface minstrel performer Clem Titus, whose name appears occasionally in late 19th century collections. James Buckley, in whose 1855 violin collection this tune appears, attributed compositions to composers when known, and Clem Titus's name does not appear as a composer. It may be that the tune was a favorite of Titus', or one Buckley heard him perform.
