Composed by James Stewart-Robertson (1823-1895), the editor of The Athole Collection (1884), from Edradynate, Perthshire. He studied fiddle under some of the mid-19th century Scottish fiddle masters, including Duncan McKercher ('The Athole Paganini), John McAlpine and William McLeish ('The Aberfeldy Paganini'). He was a founding member of the Edinburgh Highland Reel and Strathspey Society in 1881 and was the Society's first President.
