TOM BILLY’S REEL [2]. AKA and see “Humors of Scartaglen,” “Gleanntán Reel (4) (The),” “New Post Office (3).” Irish, Reel (cut time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The title honors Tom Billy Murphy of Kingwilliamstown (1879-1944), an influential fiddler in the Sliabh Luachra region of the Cork/Kerry border. The melody is heard in both two- and three-part versions under the various alternate titles.
