TOM WELL'S PIECE. American, Jig or Quadrille (6/8 time). USA, southwestern Pa. C Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). ABC. Tom Wells was a skilled fiddler of great repute in the neighborhood of Oak Forest, Greene County, Pa. Bayard regretted “not having a better tune” to “keep the name of a notable player from being forgotten,” and thought “Tom Well’s Piece” must have been one used by the fife-and-drum bands.
