TOMMY McMAHON'S REEL. AKA and see "Hughie Travers' No. 1," "Sligo Reel (1)," "Travers's Reel (1)." Irish, Reel. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The tune is not Co. Clare concertina player Tommy McMahon’s, but rather an older one which he popularized; having no name, it was titled "Tommy McMahon's Reel" for his 1975 recording. McMahon and his playing partner, Bernard O'Sullivan, were farmers living two miles apart in the parish of Cooraclare, and both reared with family and community dancing and music. McMahon competed in fleadhs and was all-Ireland senior champion concertina player for three consecutive years, 1971-1973, before giving up competitive playing[1].
