TRIP TO RICHMOND [2], A. English, Country Dance Tune (2/4 time). A Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The melody is unique in printed collections to London publishers Charles and Samuel Thompson’s 1765 country dance collection. Musician Thomas Hammersley entered it into his 1790 music manuscript collection. It was also entered in the mid-19th century music manuscript of William Winter (1774-1861), a shoemaker and violin player who lived in West Bagborough in Somerset, southwest England.
