TUB [1], THE. English, Country Dance Tune & Jig (6/8 time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The melody, with directions for a country dance, was printed in London by John Young in the first two editions of his Second Volume of the Dancing Master (1710 and 1714), while another melody called "The Tub" was substituted in editions of 1718 and 1728. It was also printed by rival London music publisher John Walsh in his Second Book of the Compleat Country Dancing-Master, edition of 1719, and in his New Country Dancing Master of 1710.
