TURKEY IN THE COTTONWOODS. USA,Texas/Oklahoma. Reel. B flat Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. North Dakota fiddler Joe Pancerzewski (1905-1991) learned this tune around 1931 from a professional gambler and fiddler, Chet Hawley, who was from Tulsa, Oklahoma, at Elvy Osborne's barbershop in Minot, North Dakota. Elvy was a good fiddler, and his barbershop was jam session central for fiddlers.
