VARSOVIENNE [5]. AKA - "Verse of Vienna." Irish, Varsovienne (3/4 time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. In Ireland a dance called “Shoe the Donkey” is performed to this tune, in which the musicians sometimes tacit on the downbeat of the second part in order that the feet of the dancers hitting the floor is the only thing heard at that moment (Phillipe Varlet).

Source for notated version: Frankie Kennedy and M. Mooney (members of Altan, County Donegal) [Sullivan].

Printed sources: Sullivan (Session Tunes), vol. 3; No. 36, p. 14 (appears as “Verse of Vienna”).
