WALTZ FROM ORSA. Swedish, Waltz (3/4 time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB, AA'BB'CC'. A Swedish waltz that became popular among American contra dance musicians, English and Irish musicians, popularized through the recordings of Seamus and Manus McGuire. However the tune is sourced to Swedish fiddler Björn Stabi, from Orsa, Sweden. He and playing partner Ole Hjorth performed at the Newport Folk Festival in the 1980's, and he is one of the most renowned traditional fiddlers in Sweden awarded the prize riksspelman (Zorn Silver) in 1961 and the Zorn Gold in 1986.
