WASHINGTON FUNERAL DIRGE. American, Slow Air or March (4/4 time). USA, southwestern Pa. D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. Bayard identifies this tune as a development of the wedding march in Lohengrin, though he is unsure whether the tune is named for the Pennsylvania town of Washington or the first president.

Source for notated version: Mount Pleasant Tablatures (a fife MS from southwestern Pa., 1950’s) [Bayard].

Printed sources: Bayard (Dance to the Fiddle), 1981; No. 24, p. 27.
