WEST-END HORNPIPE [1], THE. Scottish, Hornpipe. D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. William C. Honeyman printed versions of the tune in his three hornpipe playing styles: Sand Dance, Newcastle, and Sailor's. See also the close variant "West End Hornpipe (2)." It has been suggested that the hornpipe was composed by the famous Northumbrian composer of hornpipes, James Hill, but this cannot be verified.
