The tune appears as "A Highland Reel" in James Aird's Glasgow published Selection of Scotch, English, Irish and Foreign Airs, vol. 5 (1801). Set as a strathspey, the tune can be found in Patrick MacDonald's collection as "Sud mar chuir mi'n geamhradh tharum" (That's how I spent the winter).
