WILKINSON’S HORNPIPE [2]. English, Hornpipe. England, Northumberland. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. Composed by Robert Whinham (1814-1893), a teacher, musician, composer, dancing master and fiddler originally from Morpeth. Gramham Dixon (1995) notes that there was a fiddler named Wilkinson in the Haltwhistle area of Northumberland, a contemporary of Whinham’s, who may be associated with this tune.
