The tune, which Breathnach got from an "unknown manuscript", is an import from England. It was first printed by London music publisher John Johnson in his Choice Collection of 200 Favourite Country Dances, vol. 3 (1744, No. 149, p. 75). The slip jig was also entered into the large 1770 music manuscript collection of Northumbrian musician William Vickers (p. 40).
