YOUNG STREPHON. English, Country Dance Tune (3/4 time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The melody and dance instructions ("Longways for as many as will") printed by London publisher John Young in his Second Volume of the Dancing Master [1] beginning with the the 1st edition of 1710, and retained in the next three editions culminating with the fourth and last edition of 1728. The tune and country dance were also printed by Walsh and Randall in The New Country Dancing Master, Second Book (1710) and Walsh and Hare in The Second Book of the Compleat Country Dancing-Master (1719).
