OSCAR SHERWOOD "OS" SCHOLES. (1891-1984), originally from Kentucky, a "scratch farmer" who made his home in St. James, Arkansas. He learned to fiddle at the age of thirteen, in the very early 1900's. He was a well-respected musician locally and accounted the best fiddler in the St. James area. He died at Mountain View, Stone County, Arkansas.

Scholes was interviewed with Clara Scholes and Marie Tosh by Vaughn Brewer with Kay Brewer, archived at the University of Arkansas Oral History Project (Oral Histories and slides can be found in Box 4, File 41).
