The tune appears in the large mid-19th century music manuscript collection (vol. 3, p. 158) [1] of County Cork cleric and uilleann piper Canon biography:James Goodman under the title “Downshire Reel (1).” It also can be found in Seamus Gordon's (1812-1896) collection in Trinity College, Dublin, and, as an untitled reel (for which see "Reel (90)"), in Book 2 of the large c. 1883 music manuscript collection of County Leitrim fiddler and piper biography:Stephen Grier (c. 1824-1894).
