HENNESSEY'S HORNPIPE [2] (Crannciuil Ui h-Aengusa). Irish, Hornpipe. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The hornpipe was first recorded by Donegal fiddler Hugh Gillespie (1906–1986), in New York, 1938, as the second tune in a set entitled "McKenna's Farewell". Researchers Fr. John Quinn and Conor Ward find the tune cognate with "Dunphy's Hornpipe" and "Hornpipe (48)", an untitled hornpipe in Book 3 of the c. 1883 music manuscript collection of County Leitrim fiddler and piper biography:Stephen Grier (c. 1824-1894).
