RESOLUTION CUTTER, THE. English, Jig. D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. Possibly the name of a ship (there have been several 'Resolutions'). In 1783 Sir Israel Pellew (1761-1832), when still a young officer, captured a 14-gun Dutch privateer in the cutter Resolution, of 12 guns.
