MRS. LAIRD OF STRATHMARTIN AKA and see "Lady Gower's Strathspey." Scottish, Strathspey (whole time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. Composed by biography:Abraham Mackintosh, son of Robert "Red Rob" Mackintosh, who followed his father's profession as musician and dancing master. He published three brief collections, beginning in 1792 (Thirty New Strathspey Reels) in Edinburgh, but by the first decade of the 19th century he had removed to Newcastle-on-Tyne where he is recorded as teaching and performing in that city. He died around 1808. John Gow printed the identical tune under the title "Lady Gower's Strathspey" around 1804.
