TIM THE TURNCOAT (Teige/Tadg an toncastac). AKA and see “Goodnatured Man (The),” “Steamboat Hornpipe (1).” Irish, Hornpipe. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. O'Neill's "Tim the Turncoat" is a close version of the English "Steamboat Hornpipe (1)" printed in London c. 1810-22 in W. Blackman's Selection of the Most Favorite Hornpipes for the Violin. O'Neill's "Goodnatured Man (The)" shares the first strain with both tunes, but the second strain differs.
