HOBB'S WALK AROUND. American, Minstrel Dance Tune (2/4 time). A Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. Elias Howe credits the composition to one Al Corey. The title probably refers to Michael Hobbs, whose name is attached to several tunes in the Howe music publications. Hobbs was a violinist, cornetist and dance prompter whose business address in Boston corresponds with the Howe firm addresses, although the exact name of the relationship is unknown. The title of this tune indicates that Hobb's also was associated with blackface minstrelsy.
