TENNESSEE TWO-STEP, THE. Canadian, Two-Step (cut time). Canada, Maritime Provinces. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB, AA'BB'. The tune was in the repertoire of several older fiddlers on Prince Edward Island when Ken Perlman was collecting in the 1990's. The origins of the tune are, so far, obscure, but it is played throughout the Canadian Maritimes.
There are other tunes that are called "Tennessee Two-Step"[1]. It should be noted that 'Tennessee two-step' also has slang meanings, but basically refers to something underhanded or substituted in a negative way.
