Composed by William Marshall (1748-1833), and first printed in his 1781 collection (p. 10). Strath means 'valley', and Strathdown is the 'valley of the Down River'. The name of the tune was changed to "Drumin's Strathspey"("Drumin (2)") when it was printed in Marshall's 1822 collection.
