NOON LASSES, THE (Gearrchailí na Nóna). AKA - "Noon Lassies." AKA and see "Bonny Lass to Marry Me (A)," "Loon Lasses (The)," "East Clare Reel (The)." Irish, Reel. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABBCCDD. The tune is played as a set dance in County Clare, says editor Jackie Small (CRÉ V). Breathnach's collection note said source Cathcart was unsure as to whether the title referred to a personal name or a place-name. The reel is a variant of the popular and widespread (in its many variants) "Lord MacDonald (4)."
