DUFFY THE DANCER (Ua Dubtaig an rinceoir). AKA and see "Gauger (1) (The)," "High Reel (1) (The)," "Sandy Duff." Irish, Reel. A Mixolydian (O'Neill/Krassen): A Dorian (O'Neill/1001): A Major (O'Neill/1850): A Major/Mixolydian (Miller). Standard tuning (fiddle). AB (O'Neill): AABB (Miller). The tune is a relative, and probably derivative, of the Scottish melody "I'll Gang Nae Mair to Yon Town." "Duffy the Dancer" was recorded in 1929 on 78 RPM by banjo player Neil Nolan (1894 - 1984).
