REEL DES CHANTIERS (Logging Camps Reel). AKA and see "J.B. Miller's Hornpipe," “Ned Kendall's Hornpipe (2),” "Old Voile," "Reel du chauffeur," "Saratoga Hornpipe (4)," “Swinging Around the Circle.” French-Canadian, Reel. D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AA’BB (Bégin): AA'BB' (Cuillerier). The reel is derived from the New England tune “Ned Kendall's Hornpipe (2)", named after a famous mid-19th century keyed-bugle virtuoso from Boston, Mass. The tune was recorded twice by Montreal fiddler Joseph Allard (1865-1947); in 1929 under the title "Reel du chauffeur," and again in 1937 as "Reel des chantiers."
