CAPITAINE VOLEUR.   French-Canadian (cut time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AA'B.  Jean Duval finds Soucy's "Capitaine Voleur" to be a version of the comic song "Captain Jinks of the Horse Marines", popular in North America in the first half of the 19th century.  Capitain Voleur (trickster Captain) was also the name of a cotillion-like dance-game popular through the early 20th century.
