FAREWELL TO THE COT ON THE MOUNTAIN. AKA - "Has Sorrow Thy Young Days Shaded? (2)." Irish, Slow Air (6/8 time). B Flat Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. According to Darley & McCall the song to this tune was once a great favorite in Dublin. It begins:

Farewell to the cot on the mountain,
The cradle that rocked my to sleep.

The melody was printed by P.W. Joyce (Old Irish Folk Music, 1909) as "Has Sorrow Thy Young Days Shaded? (2)" (No. 665), the name of a Thomas Moore song set to the older air. Joyce set the tune in 9/8 instead of 6/8.
