"Finea Hunt" was entered into Book 2 of the c. 1883 music manuscript collection of County Leitrim piper and fiddler biography:Stephen Grier (c. 1824-1894). The first strain is shared with the "Cork Lasses (2) (The)" family of tunes. In the early 19th century the Finea Hunt was held on Monday, March 19th (as recorded in John Watson Stewart's Gentleman's and Citizen's Almanack for 1804).
